No Pride in Policing Coalition holding rally today near City Hall

June 28, 2020

An activist group named No Pride in Policing Coalition (NPPC) will be holding a peaceful demonstration and teach-in at Nathan Phillips Square today from 2pm to 5pm.

Join us to demand an IMMEDIATE 50% CUT to the Toronto Police Services budget as a first step towards abolishing the police! Pride is a protest. We will not rest until all are free!

This is the second black rights rally to happen in as many days, with a similar protest yesterday. That protest was focused on Dafonte Miller. This protest will have a broader focus, and includes support of the Afro-Indigenous Rising (AIR). AIR has been hosting a tent city occupation in front of City Hall.

Solidarity: NPPC is sharing the space with Afro-Indigenous Rising (AIR) who have been occupying Nathan Phillips Square since Juneteenth. The No Pride in Policing Coalition supports AIR’s demands.

It is not clear how many attendees this event will have.

This is a developing story, and I’ll provide more details as they arise.
